Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD now offering students free, reduced-price meals

The meals are provided under current income eligibility guidelines.

CARROLLTON, Texas — Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD announced a new policy Friday to provide free and reduced-price meals to students under income eligibility guidelines.

Households of students in the district will be sent letters starting Thursday about eligibility benefits for the upcoming school year, officials said, as well as any actions needed to apply for the benefits.

Only one application must be completed per household. These will determine student eligibility for free and reduced-price meals.

Decisions regarding payment for meals is made at the national level, officials said, not by the district.

Criteria used to determine elgibility include household income, and whether households participate in programs like SNAP or TANF.

Applications are available online at www.schoolcafe.com. Paper applications are also available here.
