Few things feel as quintessentially Austin as sipping a margarita and digging into some queso and tacos. Now, locals will have a new spot to frequent in South Austin, as fan-favorite East Side restaurant De Nada Cantina debuts a second location on South First Street. The beloved taqueria is taking over the former El Mercado space and opening its doors on Sunday, Feb. 22, just in time for National Margarita Day.
Famed for its frozen iteration of the lime-and-tequila-based cocktail, De Nada has a two-drink limit per patron for all of its large margaritas. In addition to the potent drinks, the restaurant has garnered a following for tasty bites like its birria tacos, fried Mexico City quesadillas, mushroom picadillo tacos, and house-made blue corn tortillas. De Nada Cantina features daily specials like Sabroso Wednesday and (you guessed it) Taco Tuesday, and the restaurant includes a generous happy hour from 3:30 to 6:30 on weekdays.

The new De Nada Cantina has multiple rooms and a spacious patio. Discover the second location when it opens its doors on Feb. 22 at 1302 S. First St. (Should you choose to partake in a margarita or two, be sure to plan a safe ride ahead of time. As devoted fans know all too well, they pack a punch!)
